Learning about indigenous people in elementary school was different from what I learned about it in high school. In elementary school, we were taught like there was no truth or reconciliation, we learnt about the residential school, with that teaching. Then, in high school, the teaching changed and there was more truth and reconciliation, we learnt about how the indigenous people were treated inside of the schools. And how much Canada was not free for the indigenous people. Then after reading through the TRC booklet, this impacted me in a positive way because our government is taking the initiative to start the journey through truth and reconciliation.
